About Bricole

I am a self-taught artist who has been drawing and creating since I was young. What started as something I simply enjoyed has continued to grow into a passion for creating artwork and exploring different ways to bring ideas to life.

Finding My Medium

When I first started painting, I primarily worked with acrylic paints. A few years ago, I decided to experiment with oils and quickly found that they were a better fit for the way I wanted to paint. I enjoy the way oil paints blend and the depth they allow me to create. I also appreciate their longevity and the ability to create paintings that are made to last.

I took the time to learn how to work with oils and properly prepare my canvases, and oil painting has been my primary focus for the past several years. More recently, I have begun exploring portrait painting while continuing to create landscapes and paintings of animals.

Drawing remains an important part of my process. I often begin my paintings with sketches, and continuing to draw has helped me develop the ability to establish proportions, composition, and details before I begin painting.

Exploring Different Ways to Create

Although oil painting is my primary focus today, I have always enjoyed experimenting with different materials and creative processes.

I primarily paint on canvas, but I have also created paintings on wood, including custom-painted skis and snowboards. I’ve explored digital design for laser engraving and created engraved wallets, water bottles, magnets, coasters, and cutting boards.

I’ve also worked with resin to preserve flowers and have created hand-burned wood pieces, including custom coasters and other decorative work.

Each of these projects has given me the opportunity to learn something new and find different ways to turn an idea into something tangible.

Where I Am Today

Today, my focus is on oil painting. I especially enjoy creating custom paintings for others and turning meaningful ideas, memories, and subjects into original artwork.

I am beginning to put my work out into the world and am currently entering pieces into The Brewery Arts Center in Carson City, with plans to continue submitting my work to galleries and other spaces where I can share my art with others.

My goal is to continue learning, experimenting, and growing as an artist while creating artwork that people can enjoy and keep for years to come.
